Take the self-test in the toilet of the outpatient laboratory at reception 25.
- Open the tube, do NOT throw away the fluid.
- Open the package with the two swabs and take out one of the swabs. Do NOT touch the swab and do NOT put it down.
- Insert one of the two swabs about 2.5 cm into the anus and turn it around for about 10 seconds along the anus wall.
- Do not push too hard, otherwise the swab may break.
- Pull the swab from the anus and put it into the tube.
- Bend the swab at the black line against the side so that it breaks.
- Turn the lid firmly on the tube.
- Put the remaining material into the waste bag.
- Wash your hands.
Where to hand in the self-test?
Hand in the tube with the laboratory form at counter nr. 12 next to the toilet. There a name sticker will be put on the tube. Please check whether your name and date of birth are correct.
What to do if...?
- What do you do if the swab breaks while it is still in your anus?
Do not panic. It doesn’t matter. Just pull the swab out and put it into the tube.
- What do you do if you drop the swab?
Throw the first swab away. Repeat the procedure with the second swab. If necessary, return to reception 21 B to pick up a new package.
- What if there is faeces on the swab?
It may be that there is a lot of faeces on the swab. This may have a negative influence on the test. Throw away the first swab. Repeat the procedure with the extra swab.
